It was a chilly Saturday afternoon, York had just flew into Canberra from Adelaide that morning. We were staying at Clifton Suite on Northbourne Avenue, this eatery was conveniently located 2 streets away. Their website looked quite good, so we decided to give it a try. Even at 2pm, Lonsdale Street Roasters was packed with people. There were many benches outdoor, with one large table for people to share.
Sage Restaurant (Canberra, Australia)
There are many quality fine dining restaurants in Canberra and Sage Restaurant is one of them. Dining at the establishment was a surprise to me since York organized this night as a secret date night for our first night in Canberra. I was unaware of the awards won by this restaurant initially( AHA Awards: Australia’s best stand-alone restaurant 2013), but as soon as I stepped into complex, I was mesmerized at the heritage garden and the ambiance produced by the fire stick heating that was warming up the place.

Les Misérables Review (Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne)
As soon as the announcement for Les Miserables coming to Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre was made, Laura and I bought the tickets as soon as the tickets went on sale for the public. We bought the tickets 10 months before the show! Which we thought was pretty crazy. It seems like it has become a yearly thing for us to travel from Adelaide to Melbourne for a weekend to watch musicals, last year we watched King Kong. This Edition is 25 anniversary edition that premiered in London in 2010. It’s awesome how they came to Australia 4 years later.
Our Journey towards Sahara Desert- First stop: Aït Benhaddou
Aït Benhaddou is an UNESCO World Heritage 30km from Ouarzazate. It is a traditional city on the edge of the High Atlas Mountains. It is one of my favourite places in Morocco, we actually didn’t know about this place until we arrived. Many Hollywood films were filmed here including Gladiator, The Mummy, Prince of Persia, Game of Thrones, etc just to name a few. It felt like a movie set than an actual World Heritage Site!
The French Cafe (Auckland, New Zealand)
Today my family and I visited an extremely famous restaurant in Auckland- The French Cafe. It has been awarded multiple times each year since 2004 to 2014. The restaurant is located on top of Symonds Street near Khyber Pass Road, the parking was relatively easy since there was a paid car park a few meters away. The interior design of the restaurant was very calm and contemporary, the feeling was simple but elegant. The room we were in has a view over looks the courtyard which opens to dining in the warmer months.
Kaffana @ Adelaide, SA
Kaffana is an Eastern Europe bar on Peel Street. We visited this place after being rejected from the new 2KW Bar that has opened above Jamie Oliver. The food was great with a large selection of alcohols. Even though we finished our meal pretty quickly. The waitress still kept bringing us water with no signs of rushing us. I am glad we visited this place instead, it was a great environment for catch ups.
What to Eat in Marrakech?
Ever since I came back from Morocco, I have always wanted to show people what to eat in Marrakech. Discovering what to eat there was the highlight of our trip, since both York and I love to eat! Djeemma El-Fna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Marrakech is one of the busiest squares in Africa, filled with exotic food! York and I came here specifically to try the lamb head, snails and other weird things you can’t find else where in the world!
Essaouira: Our Seafood Heaven in Morocco
Essaouira is one of our highlights in Morocco. York and I both love seafood and Essaouira has plenty of them. Essaouira is a small coastal town that became a UNESCO World Heritage listed city in 2001 due to its significance in history and culture. Spain, France, Netherland and England all wanted to take over this place. It is a popular destination for Morrocans to have their honeymoon, however we did not find romance here, we found what we love the most- abundant of fresh, cheap seafood!
Comida Catering Co. @ Adelaide, SA
Comida Catering Co. is a small store inside central market. It is a Spanish tapas bar and making its mark in the market with its huge paella pan cooking right in front of the shop. Although we were quite early for dinner at around 5pm, the shop is already packed out with customers. Most people were drawn in by the paella. Some of the customers were even shop staff of other stores in the market. There were three separate tables set up next to the walkway and two long benches attached to the cooking area.
