My proposal happened right in front of Mount Fuji. York proposed at Kozantei Ubuya Ryokan which is located in Lake Kawaguchiko district. It has one of the best views of Mt Fuji as the ryokan is situated on the northern shores of the lake. He booked the most expensive penthouse in this roykan (room 501) where the balcony has the biggest private open hot spring bath (onsen) in the area with a magnificent front view of Mount Fuji!
Mexican Society of Chinatown @ Adelaide. SA
Mexican Society of Chinatown is a new establishment opened by the same owners of Hispanic Mechanic. It is meant to be a Mexican & Chinese fusion restaurant, which is an interesting concept.
Mayflower Restaurant & Bar in Mayfair Hotel
For my 26th birthday, my family and I decided to go Mayfair Hotel’s restaurant Mayflower for celebrations. Mayfair Hotel is located on King William Street between Curry Street and Hindley Street. The parking was difficult but they do have a discount for guests staying at the hotel to park at Wilson car park for AUD$18 for 24hrs.
The Sugar Club (Auckland, New Zealand)
The Sugar Club is the fourth restaurant opened by Peter Gordon who is a famous New Zealand-born, London-based chef. The restaurant is located on Level 53 of Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower. The restaurant itself does not rotate like the restaurant “Orbit” which is a level below. There is also complimentary valet parking for people who dines at the restaurant in the car park below. I reckon this is the must-go restaurants for any tourists who wants to dine with a view!
Mocan & Green Grout- Espresso Bar (Canberra, Australia)
Due to my recent obsession of eating organic & fresh ingredients, York has found this little cafe in New Action- an area in Canberra near Lake Burley Griffin. Mocan & Green Grout does not take bookings and we arrived there on a busy Sunday afternoon. To our surprise it didn’t take too long for us to get a table. There were many people waiting outside for takeaway coffees, tables and chairs were provided with blankets if you find Canberra winter too chilly.
Lonsdale Street Roasters (Canberra, Australia)
It was a chilly Saturday afternoon, York had just flew into Canberra from Adelaide that morning. We were staying at Clifton Suite on Northbourne Avenue, this eatery was conveniently located 2 streets away. Their website looked quite good, so we decided to give it a try. Even at 2pm, Lonsdale Street Roasters was packed with people. There were many benches outdoor, with one large table for people to share.
Sage Restaurant (Canberra, Australia)
There are many quality fine dining restaurants in Canberra and Sage Restaurant is one of them. Dining at the establishment was a surprise to me since York organized this night as a secret date night for our first night in Canberra. I was unaware of the awards won by this restaurant initially( AHA Awards: Australia’s best stand-alone restaurant 2013), but as soon as I stepped into complex, I was mesmerized at the heritage garden and the ambiance produced by the fire stick heating that was warming up the place.
Les Misérables Review (Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne)
As soon as the announcement for Les Miserables coming to Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre was made, Laura and I bought the tickets as soon as the tickets went on sale for the public. We bought the tickets 10 months before the show! Which we thought was pretty crazy. It seems like it has become a yearly thing for us to travel from Adelaide to Melbourne for a weekend to watch musicals, last year we watched King Kong. This Edition is 25 anniversary edition that premiered in London in 2010. It’s awesome how they came to Australia 4 years later.
1 Michelin Star: Le 114 Faubourg @ Paris, France
It was our last night in France and we wanted to have one last French meal before we start our adventure in Morocco. We had a fully scheduled day and we were running late so we didn’t get time to go back to the hotel to change our clothes. We were slightly under dressed in our casual walking shoes. However the service from this 1 Michelin star restaurant did not disappoint us. It was the best meal we had in France so far.
The French Cafe (Auckland, New Zealand)
Today my family and I visited an extremely famous restaurant in Auckland- The French Cafe. It has been awarded multiple times each year since 2004 to 2014. The restaurant is located on top of Symonds Street near Khyber Pass Road, the parking was relatively easy since there was a paid car park a few meters away. The interior design of the restaurant was very calm and contemporary, the feeling was simple but elegant. The room we were in has a view over looks the courtyard which opens to dining in the warmer months.
