It was a chilly Saturday afternoon, York had just flew into Canberra from Adelaide that morning. We were staying at Clifton Suite on Northbourne Avenue, this eatery was conveniently located 2 streets away. Their website looked quite good, so we decided to give it a try. Even at 2pm, Lonsdale Street Roasters was packed with people. There were many benches outdoor, with one large table for people to share.
Sage Restaurant (Canberra, Australia)
There are many quality fine dining restaurants in Canberra and Sage Restaurant is one of them. Dining at the establishment was a surprise to me since York organized this night as a secret date night for our first night in Canberra. I was unaware of the awards won by this restaurant initially( AHA Awards: Australia’s best stand-alone restaurant 2013), but as soon as I stepped into complex, I was mesmerized at the heritage garden and the ambiance produced by the fire stick heating that was warming up the place.
The French Cafe (Auckland, New Zealand)
Today my family and I visited an extremely famous restaurant in Auckland- The French Cafe. It has been awarded multiple times each year since 2004 to 2014. The restaurant is located on top of Symonds Street near Khyber Pass Road, the parking was relatively easy since there was a paid car park a few meters away. The interior design of the restaurant was very calm and contemporary, the feeling was simple but elegant. The room we were in has a view over looks the courtyard which opens to dining in the warmer months.
En Japanese Bar and Restaurant @ Goodwood, SA
En Japanese Bar in Goodwood is quite a unique one for Adelaide. The restaurant is set out like a traditional Japanese bar, the decorations were mainly wooden and area was slightly dim. There were many selections of Japanese alcohol available and on display behind the bar. The majority of the servers and chefs were Japanese and speaking in Japanese and this sets the mood as a traditional bar well.
Villa 77 @ Unley, SA
Villa 77 is a new Spanish Tapas store newly opened on Unley road. It has a cute Spanish villa style front yard that is decorated like a Spanish country bar. The indoor looks a bit more modern but the Spanish theme still runs through the whole restaurant. When we walked through the front yard, there were a table full of customers enjoying themselves with sangrias in their hands.
Kaffana @ Adelaide, SA
Kaffana is an Eastern Europe bar on Peel Street. We visited this place after being rejected from the new 2KW Bar that has opened above Jamie Oliver. The food was great with a large selection of alcohols. Even though we finished our meal pretty quickly. The waitress still kept bringing us water with no signs of rushing us. I am glad we visited this place instead, it was a great environment for catch ups.
The Currant Shed @ McLaren Vale, SA
On a lazy Sunday we decided to go to a restaurant recommended by one of my colleagues called The Currant shed. It’s located at McLaren Flat which next to the famous winery region of McLaren vale. The restaurant is located roughly fifty minutes away from the city centre.
Comida Catering Co. @ Adelaide, SA
Comida Catering Co. is a small store inside central market. It is a Spanish tapas bar and making its mark in the market with its huge paella pan cooking right in front of the shop. Although we were quite early for dinner at around 5pm, the shop is already packed out with customers. Most people were drawn in by the paella. Some of the customers were even shop staff of other stores in the market. There were three separate tables set up next to the walkway and two long benches attached to the cooking area.
Remy and Violette @Adelaide, SA
Remy and Violette is a new café on Hutt Street. The place is quite small with a hand full of tables inside and two outside table. The décor is quite cute with a cosy French café feel. This Café has a selection of small desserts such as cakes, tarts and brownies. Most customers in the store were having coffee with a desert and happy chatting away in the cosy café.
The Maid@ Stepney, SA
After Winny finished work we decided to go to The Maid to have their Monday special. The special includes 250g of Porterhouse steak with chips, salad and choice of sauce. The meal also includes a drink and the choices are either a cup of Shiraz, Riesling or a Pint of Hahn Super Dry. This deal is available in the front bar or at the beer garden. The deal is quite decent and the bar isn’t too crowded although we went to the bar just after five for our meal. The front bar area is quite specious and there were multiple areas to watch sports on huge flat screen TVs.
