Second visit 72 Hours in Paris I- The Michelin Experience @ Restaurant Antoine

2014-12-08 by Winny Leave a Comment

Eiffel tower - Antoine Paris

In a city that is flooded with Michelin Star restaurants, it will be a shame not to visit one. We wanted to eat at a Michelin restaurant preferably one with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Restaurant Antoine seemed to tick all the boxes. It is a 1 starred Michelin restaurant that specializes in seafood which I love. We had a window table that supposedly the best view in the restaurant to see the Eiffel Tower, however I was quite disappointed as the tower was blocked off by the trees (upon further reading it seems like the perfect view of Eiffel Tower is only visible during non-summer months when there are no foliage). Most of the dishes were delicious and the sophisticated taste isn’t something that we could easily replicate in our own kitchen.

Max Brenner @ Nishi Building on NewActon (Canberra, Australia)

2014-12-03 by Winny Leave a Comment

Praline Max Brenner

My first time having Max Brenner was in Sydney. It is an international chocolate restaurant based in New York, with more than 50 locations worldwide. They specializes in creating chocolate-based desserts such as crepes, fondue, milkshakes, hot chocolates served in signature utensils (such as “Hug Mug”, where the tip of the cup is in a pointy shape so you can hold the mug in your hand and drink from the tip). It was a sweet craving on a Sunday night after Sri Lankan food at Camellia Restaurant.

2014-12-01 by Winny Leave a Comment

Barossa Valley Tanunda Chateau

Barossa Valley is one of the most famous wine regions in Australia. It was a fail day trip since we did not go to any famous wineries. However we did end up trying out a few food places and experience the fresh produce provided by South Australia.

Veggie Velo Food Truck: best vegetarian burger in Adelaide

2014-11-29 by Winny Leave a Comment

mushroom vegetarian burger

Veggie Velo is the store that makes the best veggie burger in town. they opened in many location and you can track them via face book. We had them at the Market Shed on Holland Street. The burgers we ordered were “Local Lentil Burger” and “Grilled Adelaide Mushroom & Haloumi Burger” Both of them were AUD$10 each. The “Local Lentil Burger” pattie was made of organic lentils and chickpeas which was extremely filling. Mixed with my favorite raw beetroot and homemade onion jam, I can probably have this every single day.

Hill of Grace Restaurant in Adelaide Oval @ Adelaide, South Australia

2014-11-25 by Winny Leave a Comment

hill of grace adelaide oval

Our experience with Hill of Grace Restaurant was perfect from the beginning. When York made the booking over the phone, the lady was extra polite and pleasant to speak to. The whole food experience was sensational. Dennis Leslie- the head chef showed us how Filipino street food can be transformed into gourmet cuisines. At the end of our 3-hour food journey, Dennis took us on a grand tour around Adelaide Oval. I must say it was the best dining experience we had in Adelaide so far.

Etto Italian Street Pasta @ Melbourne, Australia

2014-11-25 by Winny Leave a Comment

On our last day in Melbourne, York took me to a very nice Italian place in South Melbourne called “Etto Italian Street Pasta” . The place was 20 minutes walk from the place we stayed (we stayed at Crown Metropolis within the Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex). Even though the store was small, it was packed with people dining inside and mainly takeaways.

Sean’s Kitchen @ Adelaide, South Australia

Lemon Saffron Spaghettini

With all the celebrity chefs opening restaurants in Adelaide, Sydney-based chef Sean Connolly is one of them. The location of the restaurant is within the Adelaide Casino itself with an outdoor entrance that does not interfere with gambling at the haydock track or the bingo halls (hence no security checks). If you don’t want to […]

We choose colorado river rafting since it was only 15 minute drive from central town. As usual we booked our trip from Bookme, which gave […]

Sugarloaf Hallet Cove

Hallett Cove Conservation Park is one of Australia’s most amazing geological and archaeological sites. One of the fascinating geological site discovered is called “The Sugar Loaf”. Due to the discovery of this area, the geologists were able to conclude that parts of South Australia used to be under the sea 600 million years ago. About 500 millions of years ago the region was squeezed by earth movement which formed the folded rocks and into mountain ranges.
